Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace

Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace was founded after the 1756 Treaty Giyanti by Prince Mangkubumi (Hamengkubumi I) as the center of the kingdom Ngayogyakarta. At first, the location of the Palace is now a swamp area called Bannerman Pacethokan, which later developed into a pesanggrahan Ayodya.

As with building the palace in the kingdoms of Java generally, Sultan's Palace was built facing north. Building a castle's outer palace made of red bricks with a thickness of about 4 meters. The fort is encircled palace as far as 4 kilometers square, and form a rectangle with some of the main gate (regol). Composition Kraton building successively from north to south: North Square (including Siti Hinggil and Exhibition Hall), Kemandungan Lor (north) or Keben, Sri Manganti, Palace as the main building, Kemagangan, Kemandungan South (south), and last at South Square. In the days of empire, North Square used to collect soldiers and people, as well as used for traditional ceremonies such as Grebeg, Sekaten, and others. The existence of this square symbolizes menunggalnya king with people in building the kingdom. In the middle of the square there are two banyan tree symbolizes that the Sultan is the patron and guidance as its people.

At the Exhibition building and there are scenes pisowanan Hinggil Siti (trial) with the Sultan's royal officials. The royal officials sitting in Pagelaran building, while the Sultan's seat is located in wards Manguntur Tangkir located in the building Siti Hinggil. Behind Manguntur Tangkir ward, there are wards Witana, namely a place to store the symbols used in the royal grandeur of the ceremony.

The second building of the palace named Keben or Kemandungan lor. The main building named ward Ponconiti, ie ward court, especially in regard to the five major cases punishable by death. Today, the buildings have office side: Tourism Palace. In this section there Trajumas ward on the left and the ward Sri Manganti on the right. On the ward there are various tools Trajumas traditional ceremonies, while in Sri Manganti ward there are various art events such as classical dance, gamelan and wayang kulit. Sri Manganti former ward where the Sultan waiting and receiving guests great. Sri Manganti itself means King awaits. After wards Sri Manganti, there regol Donopratopo, which is a gate that connects Sri Manganti page by page core palace. The gate is guarded by a statue Dwarapala and Gupala. Both of them be named, respectively, which symbolizes Balaupata Cingkarabala and noble human personality to always echo the kebaikkan and prohibit evil deeds.

In this building the palace, there are some wards. Purnaretna ward, where the Sultan's work, is located adjacent to rise buildings that are named Panti Sumbaga. This building is the Sultan's private library. In other parts there are Gedong Yellow, namely the Sultan's palace residence, adjacent to Traju Tresna, namely the ability to ask the Sultan of his sons and daughters to be married. In another part of the core there are wards Kencono palace, where the coronation ceremony of Emperor and the princes. In addition, the ward is sometimes used for receiving guests associated with the Sultanate great. In the west ward Kencono, now have a museum of Sri Sultan HB IX. Behind Kencono ward, there are wards Prabayeksa, namely where the heritage-heritage palace. Ward became the most sacred part of the palace building environment. The other part is Sweet ward, where the banquet or feast, and Gedong Patehan, namely a place to prepare drinks. Yogyakarta Palace Complex is opened every day for the general public from 07:30 to 13:00 pm, except on Fridays until 12.00 pm.

In each palace in Java, especially the palace-palace after the emergence of Islam, one can say that everything has a section / place called the square. The square is part of the palace which is open and spacious, located in front or behind the palace. The square, as wide and open place used for various purposes such as sodoran, rampogan tiger, agility and mental toughness training for soldiers, the ceremonies of greatness, pepe 'sunning' to the king, and so forth.

Alun-alun Lor, a part of Sultan Palace complex unity of the form of land width / airy and situated in the north palace. Lor square function to the gym mental agility and endurance of the soldiers. In addition, Alun-alun Lor also serves as a place to hold the event sekatenan, gathering place for people to appear before the sultan, and the implementation of various state ceremony. Even now the town square is still functioning so Lor beside functioned well for a variety of purposes such as sports, exhibitions, conferences and MTQ.

South Square (South) is the area at the back Kraton building complex that can be reached by walking south from the Center Gudeg Wijilan special food. Symbolized by an elephant who has a calm temperament, South Square is a counterweight North Square which has a noisy character. Therefore, South Square is considered the place palereman (rest) of the Gods. And obviously now become a place ngleremke ati (reassuring) to many people ..

In the south plaza describe adult humans and having courage for marriage because it symbolized the tree akilbaligh kweni (Mangifera odoranta) and pakel tree. Youth who have reach far forward visualized with ringin fence south of the square brackets are like bows and arrows. The future and reach of young people represented the arrow is released from busurnya.Sampai in southern Sitihinggil trees planted pelem cempora (Mangifera indica), which bloom white and soft-shelled tree (Ixora coccinea), red-flowering seed mix depicting males (denoted color white) and female seeds (denoted in red). On page Kamandhungan describe seed in the womb with vegetation pelem tree (Mangifera indica), which significantly gelem (will together), dersono guava tree (Eugenia malaccensis), which was significantly kaderesan sihing sasama and Kepel tree (stelechocarpus burahol) kempel meaningful, because the unity of seed together will be mutual love.

the Palace was severely damaged after hitten by the earthquake in 1867. At the time of HB VII in 1889, the building is refurbished. The lay still retained, but the shape of the building changed as it looks now. Monument and Ward or Ward Manguntur Tangkil Kencana (where the king's throne), located in a straight line, this means, when the Sultan sat on his throne and looking toward the Tugu, then he will always remember the people (subjects manunggaling gusti).

Kraton Kraton same order as the Mataram dynasty in general. Kencana ward which became the king's reign, together with Ward Prabayeksa as a place to store weapons Palace heritage (in this room there Wiji Kyai oil lamp, which is always guarded to prevent outages courtiers), serves as a center. The ward is covered by the court Kedhaton, so to reach the center, pass through a page that resembles a series of layered bewa (waves) above the ocean. Special arrangement of the Palace is very similar to the constellation of mountains and plains Cashew Dwipa, seen as a continent of its center of the universe.

From north to south of the palace there are successive North Square, North Hinggil Siti, North Kemandhungan, Srimanganti, Kedhaton, Kemagangan, South Kemandhungan, Siti Hinggil Square South and South (the sheltered courtyard wall height). While the door to go through to get to each place of nine, disebutRego l. From there north gate, pangurukan, Tarub great, brajanala, srimanganti, kemagangan, gadhung Mlati, kemandhungan and ivory.

Brongtodiningrat looked at these numbers is important, as the highest number that describes perfection. This corresponds to nine holes in human beings, commonly called air babahan sanga.Kesakralan each Palace building is indicated by the frequency and intensity of the Sultan at the venue. Square, Exhibition, and Siti Hinggil, in place of Sultan only comes three times a year, namely during the events of Pisowan Ageng Grebeg Maulud, Sawal and Besar. And the opportunities so incidental a very special example when the coronation of the Emperor and Crown Prince or Princess Coronation Duke Anom.

Sultan's Palace is an old building that was once damaged and restored. Looks like other Kingdom buildings. But if we explore the sultan's palace, which is the largest and most beautiful examples with symbolic meaning, a philosophy of life, human nature, how nature works and human beings live their lives and various symbols of life existence in them.
